    1. Netgalley arc provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review.3.5 StarsA solid, moving, yet entertaining read that also makes you think about the choices we make in life and the what-ifs.This is a story of Scarlett, 49, divorced with 2 grown-up kids. Her grey, humdrum life is suddenly shaken up by a diagnosis that she may or may not have breast cancer. Of course, this places everything in a new perspective and when she accidentally (or is it?) comes across a bucket-list her 17-year-old-se [...]

    2. 4☆ Emotional but Fun read! I really enjoyed A Year of Second Chances. It's a story about grabbing life, making changes and being who you want to be.When Scarlett has a health scare she is determined to turn her life around. With her Ex husband a cheat, her children left home she now lives alone. When her parents call her to clear out her childhood things she finds a list she wrote with her best friend Shonna. On that list was things she aimed to do in life. But didn't quite achieve them. This insp [...]

    3. I am a fan of this author and always get excited when I see a new book coming out. She has a tendency toward writing stories which pull at the heart strings and on more than one occasion had me in tears with her words. Thankfully, although this is a heartwarming story, it was not one of those ugly cry books. The story revolves around Scarlett whose life hasn't turned out the way she envisioned. Finding a list she wrote in her teenage years she strives to fulfil the dreams she held back then. Some [...]

    4. One of the things I thought about as I began reading this book was the age gap in between myself and Scarlett. Her youngest child just graduated college, while my youngest is about to be toilet-trained. Scarlett has worked for years, while I am finishing grad school and about to begin a career. Despite our differences, the story held deep meaning for me. Every day is a gift and the future is not guaranteed to us. No matter what is going on in life, and no matter the circumstances, it is never to [...]

    5. A Year of Second Chances, the latest women’s fiction offering by Buffy Andrews, is a beautiful tale of living out youthful dreams regardless of age and circumstances. As always, Andrews draws her readers into the world of her imagination where she paints vivid word pictures and introduces memorable characters who will remind you of people in your own life. In this entertaining story of challenges and fulfillment, she explores many of the issues that arise when a person faces mid-life. I have r [...]

Originally posted @nzfnmblog.wordpress/What made me first pick up this book was the idea of finding a list that you wrote many moons ago and seeing just how much you had accomplished or changed. It kind of reminded me of those letters that teachers would make you write at school at the start of the year, only to be given back on the last day of school. Scarlett herself finds this at the time with her life where she is not only faced with a number of decisions but at a time where her mortality ha [...]

    7. When Scarlett finds a lump in her breast she is convinced that she has cancer and starts to revaluate her life. Finding a list she made when she was 17 of things she wanted to do in her life she is determined to try and make some of them happen - and when she finds out that she is fine she is still determined to carry out what she can.e is only a little overweight surely she can run a marathon!Driving route 66 is one of the items on her list with her best friend Shonna and still best friends aft [...]

    8. I loved this book so much! It resonated with me personally and helped me really think about my life and all that I have done, but more importantly all that I still want to do! It is heartfelt honesty, encouragement and a huge dose of reality too, with real life humor thrown in! Some books help you look inward and find the hidden dreams and hopesA Year of Second Chances does that and really leaves you with the belief that it is never too late for second chances, but it is up to you to try to take [...]

    9. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in return for a voluntary review. I thoroughly enjoyed Andrews' story. What started out on a total down note, going in for a secondary diagnostic mammogram because something showed up the first time, turned into a life affirming, fun and funny tale about life and living life to the fullest for an almost fifty year old divorcée. Finding her 17 year old self's bucket list and working off of that, Scarlett goes on a life changing adventure, from little th [...]

    10. This is a good story about a woman facing an uncertain future. While Scarlett is waiting for the results of a breast biopsy she finds a box of high school memorabilia in her parents attic. In the box is a list of goals she hoped to achieve as she grew older. To her amazement she hasn't accomplished any of them and sets out to complete her list. Some are easy, some are not but with the help of her grown children she forges ahead. It's nice to watch Scarlett grow into a more amazing lady as she se [...]

    11. Easy, entertaining read, though the ending went way too fast for me. I could relate to Scarlett's thoughts, feelings, and desire to change her life. Liked all the characters, a few of them could have been lifted right out of my life. Wow. Only thing that drove me crazy was the number of typos in this book!! I've never seen anything like it.

    12. This was an enjoyable read. It seemed to skim across the surface of all the things happening in the main characters life. It didn't get down into any real depth. I never believed she had any cancer, I never doubted she would get through her bucket list. It was a nice journey and then it ended.

    13. It's taken me over a week to read this book so that suggests I didn't like it that much. And the ending really sucked - it just stopped. I won't bother with another by this author. I needed more.

    14. The premise of this book was great: Scarlet, a middle aged empty nester finds a list of things she wanted to do with her life that she wrote when she was 17, and decides to do as many of them as possible.Ideally this would have led to a book that was uplifting and redemptive. Unfortunately, the characterisations were wooden, and the secondary characters were two dimensional. The book read more like a series of incidents than a cohesive whole. I also found it tedious that an incident would happen [...]
